About Us
----------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Buffalo Renaissance Foundation (BRF) is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to "Building a Better Buffalo". Our mission is to foster a better quality of life in Buffalo and the Western New York region. As our many supporters are aware, we fulfill this mission annually through our active support of public, educational, charitable and benevolent organizations and activities.

Through the organization of public forums and debates, we continually strive to raise awareness about critical issues that impact Western New York through our yearly speaker series and luncheons.

Our Spring Luncheons have become sell-out events featuring prominent national speakers with entertaining and relevant programs. Thank you to all of our sponsors and everyone who has attended this outstanding event. Our 2007 Luncheon honored Thomas R. Beecher as 2007 Renaissance Man.

BRF was pleased to have Dan Gunderson, NYS Economic Development Corporation, as a guest speaker to share his vision to continue to evolve our own strategic economic devlopment plan for Buffalo.

Our annual fundraising events gain popularity each year. Recognized as one of Western New York’s truly "fun" charitable events, our Annual Golf Classic is the second oldest tournament in Buffalo and proves to be a success year after year.

Together with our donors, BRF contributes significant financial support to many worthwhile organizations and meaningful projects throughout Western New York. BRF has been at the forefront of change while pushing the concept and necessity of regionalism, consolidation of services throughout Western New York and the revitalization of our downtown. We intend to continue to provide avenues for discussion, involvement, and pursuit of this necessary initiative, and it remains to be a major focus for our Foundation.

We are proud to have a role in helping to shape the future of Buffalo. In 1997, BRF commissioned a regional study by the Center for Governmental Research entitled, "No Handout, No Bailout". This document has proven to become a valuable tool and cornerstone for progress used extensively by Erie County Executive Joel A. Giambra and other regional leaders. Several areas of the plan have been implemented, while others are in various stages of completion. Some examples include restructuring of police and fire departments, downsizing of the Common Council and shared delivery of services. Click here to view related news and articles.

After more than 25 years of service in Western New York, the Buffalo Renaissance Foundation intends to push forward programs that will have a positive impact on life in our region. This is a wonderful community of which we should all be proud. It is the responsibility of all of us to fully expend our talents, energy and resources to help this area reach its full potential and to ensure a better quality of life today and for our children’s future. We are committed to work with you toward that goal.
